About Me
I am Mariam Zakarian. Here’s my little bio:
Born in ’87 in a small village up in the rocky mountains of Armenia, moved to Denmark at age 8 with my family where I’ve resided ever since. Currently living in Sweden.
I’ve always gravitated towards creativity in its many shapes and forms. I’m self-taught in everything I do since I prefer exploring art on my own with no guidance, restrictions or rules.
I have been writing poems and drawing since age 6. I developed my portraiture technique with graphite pencils in my early teens. Color pencils and painting caught my attention in my late teens where I also started experimenting with photography, modeling and digital paintings. Since 2009 I have expanded my expertise to include designing custom tattoos.
At age 12 I threw my first solo exhibition at the gallery of my local library. I have exhibited a number of times since.
I tend to work mostly with realism and surrealism, but do not care about genres and definitions. Each idea will find its own appropriate manifestation.
In 2009 I passed two Anatomy exams at the Medicine faculty at Aarhus University, Denmark, mainly out of my interest in the correct depiction of the human body. Currently studying Digital Design and working as a freelance artist. Alternatively, I’m the lyricist, composer and vocalist of the music project WILDEBEEST.
